Creator God, you call us to love and serve you with body, mide and spirit through loving your creation and our sisters and brothers.

Open our hearts in compassion and receive these petitions on behalf of the needs of the church and the world.

May we see each individual as a wondrous expression of your presence among us. May we feel their sorrows as our own and celebrate their joys in our hearts. May we hear their voices as an echo of your voice and serve their needs as we would serve you.

Lead us without hesitation on the path you set for us in this world. Give us courage to take up the work that is ours to do, and remind us that your strength will always carry us where you would have us go. Let us not be afraid of the condemnation of other people as long as we have approval from you.

And when the work you give us has been accomplished, give us the peace of knowing that you have prepared a home for us, where we may rest secure and with peace in you.

We lift our prayer to the Lord,
Lord, hear our prayer!

Special prayers this week who have been caught up in systems that feel entirely overwhelming; for those who feel helpless, and for those who don't know what to do next. Be with them and open the path before them as you parted the sea before your people!

A big Praise God from a Sidekick whose BROTHER has breast cancer: the tumor was removed and the surgeon says the lymph nodes are clear. THANK GOD!

So everyone - men are not exempt from breast cancer!

For all newborns and their parents,
We give praise and gratitude for healthy, strong infants,
as well as lift our prayers for those whose children have special needs, and for all the little ones who die before their time,
Lord, have mercy.

On this holiday weekend, we pray for safety - on the road as many are traveling - at picnics and gatherings - with dangerous fireworks and celebrations - on the water where vacationers are swimming and boating - through all of our celebrations the thread of danger runs. Turn our thoughts to you, and keep all your people safe and well.

Special prayer this week for the cities of Iraq, as the U.S. troops pull back and turn more responsibility over to Iraqi police forces.

For our nation, that those whose voices carry great influence would take responsibility for the consequences of their words.

For our children and teenagers, who are threatened by the violence of gangs in the streets, on their way to school, and even in their homes. And for parents, that they can find ways to keep their children safe.

For our own beloveds, the pastors, ministers, priests, chaplains, that they will remember that caring for themselves is part of caring for the flock.
