Bending Over BackwardsHas anyone ever been so offended by something you've done or said that they left the church? How did you respond? What would you suggest to another clergy spouse in this situation? |

In God (and Guns) We TrustLast month a Kentucky congregation brought their guns to church to celebrate the 4th of July and the 2nd Amendment. What, if anything, does our attitude toward guns say about our trust in God? |

Music that Says the TruthI've spent more hours than I want to admit searching for music to post with this week's Musing. There is so much that grabs my soul! Janis Joplin, U2, Meatloaf, Garth Brooks - a little embarrassing, I know. What music touches your soul with truth - making you stop in your tracks and say, wow!? |

Dangerous OutreachOne of the church members wants to start writing letters to inmates at a nearby prison. She is a sweet person, but naive, sentimental and probably gullible. Should you, the clergy spouse, say anything to her or anyone else? |

Seasons Greetings?Happy Holidays – Joy, Joy, Joy – Peace On Earth – Angelic Announcements -- Weeks of breathless anticipation -- choir music and church pageants -- excited children -- family gathered around the holiday dinner after special worship services. Why are all these things associated with Christmas, not Easter? Here we are, two weeks before the Big Day, and there's very little excitement to be found. There certainly isn't much commercialization of Easter. . . . Is our celebration of this religious holy day improved by the absence of secular distractions? What do you think? . . . . . . Click on the (purple) title "Seasons Greetings? " at the top of this paragraph. You'll go to the Discussions page. Click on "Seasons Greetings?" again, then type in your thoughts in the blank window. It’s simpler than it sounds. |
